Our Togher members joined over 8,000 runners from 27 different countries on Sunday to take part in the Cork marathon, half-marathon and relay events. The white and green singlets were out in force with more than 50 club members taking part in the event.
What a day it turned out to be for the club, with Gavin Sweeney claiming top spot in the half-marathon in an incredible time of 1.09.07.
Both our male and female relay teams put on incredible performances to cross the line in 2nd place, with all of our relay teams finishing in the top 30.
It was also a day of PBs for many of our half-marathon runners as they pounded the pavements of the beautiful and unique streetscapes of Cork city and suburbs supported by friends, family and club mates.
Rob and Marian Heffernan were also running on the day in solidarity with the Sanctuary Runners, along with Busie Mlophe who ran a PB in the half marathon.
