MONTE GORDO: DAY 4

Day 4

By Liam Hennessy

After a successful easy run on Monday, we were treated to a lovely twenty minute trot on Tuesday morning in preparation for the afternoon’s highly anticipated session of Strength Endurance Circuits (Jump Runs). The wise Coach Steven Macklin told us the night before to stay out of the sun before the session so the group sat together in darkness in Room 314 to watch a double bill of World’s Most Amazing Police Videos.

At four o’clock we set off with high hopes to Vila Real for the no-holds-barred, adrenaline-fuelled Strength Endurance Circuits (Jump Runs). The session consisted of various sets of strength and conditioning exercises, hurdle drills, running reps and general banter.

The session was enjoyed immensely and a great effort was put in by all. The only flaw was we forgot to do a special extra running rep for the biys back home.

In the evening we decided to hit the town once more. We bumped into our friends from Mullingar AC and took them from their own restaurant to the less appealing and more costly ‘Steakhouse’. All athletes endured a long wait and a lack of cutlery. The food was average to say the most but if you wanna make an omelette you gotta break some eggs. The athletes now look forward to the well-deserved recovery run tomorrow morning.
