What are your proudest moments in athletics?
Competing in the All Irelands Track and Cross Country back in the school days!
How long have you been running?
I started 15 years ago. I used to train a lot and compete with a club in Dublin all through my school years. I lost interest in the competitive side once I finished school and went for the odd run to keep fit. Since moving to Cork a year and a half ago I have found the drive to get back into it like I used to and am loving it again.
What are the events you do?
5k, 10k, 4 mile, cross country and recently 10 miles.
What’s your main goal for this year?
To improve on my times and cross country performance. To complete a half marathon.
Most memorable race?
County intermediate cross country October 2016. I loved running as part of a team for Togher AC. I hadn’t ran a cross country race in over 10 years and couldn’t wait to give it a go again. We were over the moon to discover we had come first and won a county medal! It really gave me the desire to start competing again.
What do you like most about Togher AC?
There’s a lovely sense of community in the club. Everyone is extremely supportive and there’s always great craic at training and races. You couldn’t find a more welcoming club.
In 5 years time, athletics wise, where do you see yourself?
Continuing to improve on my times and completing the big 10 mile road races and half marathons around the country and abroad.
Do you have a favourite sports hero?
Jessica Ennis is a huge inspiration. I admire anyone who can train for so many different events and manage to be such a success at such a high level.
Favourite drink, film and food?
O’ Conaills white chocolate mocha, beaches and donuts!
