This month’s interview and extended profile is with Fit4Life athlete Sinéad Mortell!
When/How/Why did you start running?
I started running a few years ago as part of a healthy lifestyle, I ran most weeks in my local Parkrun and the odd 10km race.
When and Why did you join Togher AC?
A friend who is a member of Mallow AC encouraged me to join a running club; I found Togher AC on Meet Up and joined the club in June 2022. I turned up to the Fit4Life Tramore Valley session on a sunny Thursday evening and I have not looked back!
What is/are your preferred distances?
I love 5km and half marathons
What is your proudest running moment?
Completing my first half marathon in September 2022 is my proudest moment to date
Who is your coach?
Claire Dunne
What is your main running goal for the next 12 months?
Stay injury free, a few PBs would be nice in 2024 and give a trail race a go
What is your most memorable race/running moment and why?
I recently completed my first marathon which was tough and did not go to plan but I kept going and in the end that is what counts.
What do you like most about Togher AC?
What I love the most is that Togher AC shows you what is possible. I enjoy the long runs on a Sunday followed by brunch in Blackrock Castle. The friendly and inclusive environment at every training session and race is unbeatable.

What is your favourite food, drink and film?
I love to a cup of tea with a few squares of dark chocolate
Favourite film is tricky, to name a few – Black Narcissus, Anatomy of a Fall, A Matter of Life and Death, Blade Runner, The Searchers, Past Lives, Lord of the Rings……..
